The Laughter Wall
THE HOSPITAL CLOWNS
The hospital clowns are a group of professional stage artists who specialise in working with children in hospitals. They create positive experiences for children in an otherwise demanding life situation.

On a big blank wall in the city centre of Oslo in October 2022, the people walking by could see the upsetting sight of hospitalised children looking sad and scared pictured on the wall. Underneath the pictures, we wrote the audience a message next to a card reader:
SULT was lucky enough to come along and witness the essential work and the laughter from the children that filled the hospital when visited by the clowns. We recorded some of the laughter and kept it safe for a few months while we worked on our interactive laughter wall targeting Gen Z.

When the day came to put the wall up, if you wanted to donate NOK 50, you would hear real laughter from real sick kids whom the hospital clowns visited. The donation went straight to the organisation, and the audience could see the direct impact of their actions.
